  • Signs according to Jesus:
False Christs, false messiahs (spirit of antichrist)
    Wars and rumors of wars
    Famines, diseases and natural disasters
    Persecution of Christ followers
Apostasy - turning back on faith, other followers even family
    Deception
    Depravity

  • The world we live in is temporary and there will be no ultimate peace until the prince of peace returns.

  • We endure by setting our hope on Christ and anchoring it there regardless of what is happening in the world around us.

  • The signs from Jesus are birth pains. They will intensify and become painful, but in the end will bring the emergence of God's glorious kingdom.

  • Followers of Christ must watch, be aware and evaluate all you hear. Do not allow yourself to be deceived or for difficulties to sway your faith in Christ.

  • Live every day as if his return could happen any day.

  • Jesus did not give us signs so that we could chart the future, but so that we can be prepared to see him and preach of his peace until he returns.

  • As we wait for Christ's second coming, we must combine the anticipation for his glorious return with passionate exclamation of his gracious gospel.

  • Never forget that on the heals of disastrous events the gospel has unprecedented opportunity.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • What predictions have you heard before in regards to the second coming of Christ or the end of the world? How did you feel leading up to those predictions?

  • When you think about Christ's return, what goes through your mind?

  • How can we let the signs Jesus discussed of his return encourage us as we wait?

  • How does the return of Christ being like in the days of Noah challenge you?
