Serve at BWC

Opportunities to serve in the church range from weekend services, Wednesday nights, weekdays, or on call.

We do ask for a level of commitment and excellence in service but at the same time we respect your time and family life. We realize that each of these are volunteer positions and we greatly appreciate your willingness to serve.

Serve in the community

We don't want to just serve within the walls of the church, we want to serve in our community as well. It's one of the most effective ways we can be a catalyst for transformation.

Here are some ways you can serve the community directly through our church:

There are many other organizations and ways that you can serve our community. Here are some local organizations we recommend that you can serve individually, with your small group, or with your ministry team here at Bethel: (some needs are mentioned, but you can also click the link for those with websites for more information on how to help)

  • Kershaw County Uplifted (Formerly Blue Line Boutique) - assisting victims of crimes and domestic violence with clothing donations, baby & children food, formula and diapers, and old cell phones. You can contact Cristen Clark to help out here at 803-425-1512

  • Community Medical Clinic - you can help with the annual clinic classic challenge or they need help with a volunteer in clinic 4 hours per week. Access Kershaw with the CMC always needs care packages (wash cloths, tooth brushes, tooth paste, socks, detergent).

  • Council on Aging - helping seniors live healthy, independent lives.

  • Family Resource Center - has a need for snack donations to keep their snack pack program active.

  • Food for the Soul - needs lunch servers, deliverers, food pick up, pantry distribution am/pm, and always needs donations of food and clothes.

  • Habitat for Humanity - needs individuals willing to help build when in the process of putting up a new home, needs help typically monthly with new ramp projects, needs office volunteer help, and the Habitat Restore needs help with sorting and stocking products.

  • Hope for Life Pregnancy Center - needs assistance helping those going through an unplanned pregnancy and to keep items stocked for those in these situations.

  • Jackson Teen Center - giving kids a place to feel like family.

  • Kershaw Kare - Helping neighbors in need in the Kershaw area.

  • Lighthouse For Life - helping victims of human trafficking.

  • New Day on Mill - They have a need list to keep stocked for the men, women and families staying in their transitional housing.

  • United Way - Need help with the nutrition center in Camden, Elgin and Bethune as well as their mobile nutrition center.

If you choose to serve with one of these other organizations or another way, we'd love to know how you're serving. Please use this form to let us know where and when you served.

Serve beyond

Being a catalyst for transformation goes beyond our four walls and beyond our community. God's power of transformation reaches across the world. We want to be a small part of that. Here are ways you can serve beyond our community:

  • We strive to offer mission opportunities through the church These trips are open to 7th graders through adults. This is a great family mission opportunity for families of teenagers and older.
Watch highlights from our 2018 trip

  • Unashamed Youth travels to do service projects in other states or communities - Every other summer our youth organizes a cost efficient and effective week of service. In 2015 they served Jaars in Charlotte, NC for a week. In 2017 they served six different organizations in the city of Orlando. In 2019 Unashamed went to Wilmington, NC to serve those who were impacted by devastating hurricanes. In 2021 they went to Asheville, NC to 3 different organization there.

  • Family mission opportunities - If you would like to do a mission trip with your family and we do not have a trip scheduled, or your children are too young to go with us, we will be glad to help you find something that you and your family could do. You can also check out Adventures in Missions link below who offer family mission opportunities typically for families with children as young as 6 years of age: (see a video below from Youthworks expressing the benefit of a family missions trip)

If you do an individual or family mission trip seperate from us we'd love to hear about your experience. Please use this from to let us know:
