Episode 11

Tim Elmore wrote a great book called “The Eight Paradoxes of Great Leadership.” In it he looks at different qualities that could seem to be contradictory, but actually help balance each other. They are also qualities that every great leader needs in their life. I encourage you to pick up a copy to see how he describes them in detail, and the examples of leaders who illustrate these qualities well.

The sixth paradox he mentions is that uncommon leaders are teachers and learners. Watch the video for a quick explanation and then consider these questions:

  • Do you enjoy teaching or sharing with others something you’ve learned? What do you enjoy about that?

  • Do you like the feeling of being the one that everyone comes to for answers? Why or why not?

  • Do you feel like you are open to learn from anyone, or are there only specific voices you will allow yourself to learn from?

  • Would you say you are someone who’s willing to learn a new way of doing something even if you like the way you do it?

Comment and share your answers to the questions above. Let us know if you have any additional thoughts or questions.
