Episode 7

Tim Elmore wrote a great book called “The Eight Paradoxes of Great Leadership.” In it he looks at different qualities that could seem to be contradictory, but actually help balance each other. They are also qualities that every great leader needs in their life. I encourage you to pick up a copy to see how he describes them in detail, and the examples of leaders who illustrate these qualities well.

The second he mentions is vision and blind spots. Watch the video for a quick explanation and then consider these questions:

  • What does the phrase ignorance is bliss mean to you?

  • Do you ever let not having all the answers keep you from trying something?

  • Who do you know that benefitted from what they didn’t know, their blind spots?

  • Which of these two do you struggle more with in leadership - creating vision or a fear of what you don’t know?

  • Why do you think balancing these two can be difficult? How can it be beneficial?
