Summer Reading Week 4

Sharable notes for the August 7, 2022 message. You can post these notes on your social platform!

Scriptures used: Ecclesiastes 1:1-3; 12:13-14; Ephesians 4:7; Hebrews 12:1-2
Passages referenced: Genesis 37-50; Matthew 25:14-30

  • Competence comes with growth, and to do something significant there will need to be sacrifice. Plowing, planting and pruning must take place before harvest comes.

  • You are not created just to consume, you are created to produce. You are not created to be held captive by the world, but to be victorious in it.

  • God has opened a way through Jesus Christ for us to move from a self-conscious position to a God-conscious position.

  • The success that creates a platform has a purpose that pushes us towards significance.

  • Living your life simply for success and for yourself is an empty pursuit, but living a life of significance with purpose is not done in vain.

  • Our faith is not in an iron-clad guarantee of worldly success. Our faith is in a trusted Person who we walk with and in whom we can abide.

  • Work as if you are working for the Lord, with excellence in all you do, and allow Him to produce through you.

  • Through the grace of Jesus Christ you are an overcomer, you are more than a conqueror. Greater is He that is in you than the one that is in the world.

  • Significance comes when you determine in your heart that your creator defines who you are not the culture.

  • You are not in the world to win a victory for God, you are in the world to carry out a victory that’s already been won.

  • Significance does not come from you being like everyone else who does something successful the way the world defines successful. Significance comes when you start being who God uniquely created you to be doing what God uniquely created you to do.

  • Fear is the opposite of faith. Faith produces action, fear paralyzes. The good news - God’s perfect love drives out fear. The more you grow in the love of God the more you produce through faith for His kingdom.

  • Work for God in faith not fear. You are not inadequate or inferior and you don’t have to be insecure because you are in Christ and have been enriched through the Holy Spirit.

  • When you pursue things with the heart of Christ, you’ll pursue them differently and with a different kind of joy.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • How would you define success?

  • How would you describe doing something significant with your life versus doing something successful?

  • What do you feel like God is calling you to do that you've been hesitant to do?
