  • God’s people are a people who gather. It is in our DNA to be a people who gather together around the word of God and to worship God.

  • Our desire to worship God grows in our understanding of the truth of the word of God, and that understanding comes from the Holy Spirit’s enlightening and illuminating our minds and hearts.

  • There is always a battle against the opening of the word of God but when the word of God is opened the power of God is unleashed.

  • The word of God is the most thematically unified ancient manuscript written in totality by using 40 different men over the course of 1500 years to tell one incredible story.

  • The word of God is always timely because it’s timeless.

  • Before the word of God changes you it reveals truth to you.

  • Conviction is not a bad thing because conviction leads to change.

  • The law gives us the bad news of who we are, but the gospel gives us the good news of what Jesus has done fulfilling the law of God.

  • The word of God brings conviction, it brings change, and ultimately it brings celebration. You might grieve for a moment because you see who you are, but you will start rejoicing when you realize the truth of who God is.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • How would you define joy? Do you believe you experience joy in your life?

  • How important is gathering with the body of Christ in your life? Why do you think it's important to gather with other believers?

  • How important is the word of God in your life? Do you experience growth in your life through the word of God?

  • How do you think combining the word of God with the gathering of God's people can help bring you greater joy?
