Episode 21
As leaders, there’s a tension for us to manage between taking full responsibility while recognizing that nothing we lead ultimately belongs to us. What does it look like to lead with ownership mentality and not an ownership claim where we release control, trust God as the true owner, develop others, and lead with open hands. What does it look like to lead as an owner with the heart of a steward?
Watch the video for a quick explanation and then consider these questions:
When something changes in an area you lead, what is your gut reaction—excitement, frustration, defensiveness, anxiety, curiosity, or something else? What might that reaction reveal about how you view your role and responsibility?
Have you ever seen your desire to care deeply about something cross the line into wanting to control it?
What does it look like to have full responsibility without ultimate ownership?
Where do you need to care for something like it's yours by giving it more attention, effort, or passion? Where do you need to hold something like it's His by becoming more willing to release, change, or redirect it?
Are the people on your team becoming more capable because of your leadership, or more dependent on you?
