Scriptures used: Acts 2:42-47; Ephesians 2:11-14, 19-22; John 17:9,15,17,23,26
Passages Referenced:  Luke 24:44-45; Matthew 28:19-20
- A goal of the church should be to reflect the love of God.
- The Spirit of God has been given to us by Jesus to enlighten our understanding to his word and give us power over sin as discovered in his word.
- The church was and still should be devoted to the word of God, to God’s presence, to prayer, to generosity and to each other - united together amongst diversity in Christ.
- Diversity does not have to create division. Unity in the midst of diversity elevates our witness.
- The incredible experience of salvation through Jesus Christ should lead us to being connected to the body of Christ, His church.
- If you want diversity you have to be willing to fellowship with people who are different than you.
- There’s nothing wrong with natural affinities. The problem is when affinities become walls.
- Before Christ, we’re all on equal footing. We were all on the outside. But through Jesus' death and his resurrection we can be one in Him.
- When you have a group of people with little in common except for a common experience of grace—that points to the magnitude of the gospel and the power of the life change it brings.
- Love on display in the church is a powerful witness for the gospel of Christ.
Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:
- Have you ever disassociated from a group of people because of how they acted? Why?
- Do you think people have become disassociated from the church for similar reasons? Why?
- What role can you begin to take as a part of the church to reflect Christ more clearly in the church?
