Scriptures used: Galatians 1:6-7; Galatians 5:4; Acts 17:6; Matthew 22:15-22, 29, 31-33, 35-40; Luke 10:25-29; John 13:34-35; Galatians 5:6

  • We are saved by God’s grace and love demonstrated in Jesus on the cross and through His resurrection. There is no other gospel!

  • Jesus said He would build His church and nothing would prevail against it. Buildings may get closed but the church never will be.

  • We need the courage of the early church. The early church lived believing the power of the Holy Spirit was at work within them.

  • How do we turn the world upside down? Tell them about Jesus.

  • Leonard Sweet, "If someone asks you, "what is Christianity about?" you tell them it’s about Jesus. Jesus Christ is the gospel. You don’t tell them about values or virtues or doctrines. You tell them stories about Jesus, who lived, died, and rose again so that we might live and die and rise again.”

  • We are called to love. Our love is not sweet sentimental love, but love that sacrifices, love that tells the truth even when it hurts, love that forgives.

Once upon a time there was a version of our faith that was practically . . . irresistible. In this devotional by Andy Stanley, you'll consider the faith modeled by our first-century brothers and sisters who had no official Bible and no status, yet they initiated a chain of events that resulted in the most significant and extensive cultural transformation the world has ever seen.
