In It Not Of It Week 9

Sharable notes for the November 27, 2022 message. You can post these notes on your social platform!

Scriptures used: Daniel 10-12; Revelation 12:7-9; John 15:18-19, 26; 16:33; Hebrews 9:27-28; Revelation 13:7-8; 21:1-6, 22-27
Passages referenced: Matthew 24:15; Romans 12:1-2

  • “Daniel concludes the record of his terrifying visions and dreams on a note of joy, pointing to the coming of Christ’s eternal reign of glory... Whoever wants to study them profitably dare not focus his attention on the details of the visions and dreams, but seek comfort in the Savior Jesus Christ whom they portray and in the deliverance he brings from sin and its misery.” Martin Luther

  • We need moments of lamenting where we direct in humility our situation to God, describe our suffering to Him, depend on Him to rescue and restore, all while dwelling on His faithfulness and goodness. It helps us carry a burden that would otherwise crush us.

  • We live in an evil world but we are being strengthened by a loving God.

  • Our prayers unleash war in the spiritual realm.

  • As a child of God we need to have the perspective of God.

  • The enemy's tactic is to cause us to stop living sacrificially as followers of Christ.

  • When Jesus said it was finished it meant the debt of our sin was paid in full, the final sacrifice was made, and the purpose of God’s first coming was complete.

  • The writers of the New Testament, who lived life witnessing the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, tell us all throughout their writings that God’s ultimate win is the defeat of death. One day for us Paul’s words will ring true - Death where is your sting.

  • Our hope is not found anywhere in this world. It’s not found in anything we achieve. It’s not found in any leader any where. Our hope is in Jesus Christ alone. Our call is to share that hope.

  • Go your way. Rest in Him. And know that God rewards the faithful.

  • Even when it feels dark there is hope for the future, and that hope encourages us to remain faithful in the present.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • Have you ever had a plan that you pulled off without a hitch? How did it happen?

  • How have you seen God's plans in your life play out?

  • What is the hardest thing for you about being a Christian in the world today?

  • How do you keep your hope focused on God and His plans in a world often opposed to God?

Nobody knows the exact time of Christ’s return, but we know for a fact that the signs of the time will include hardships and tribulations. We need to be more vigilant, making firm our faith in Christ, and pursuing the accomplishment of the great commission to the best of our efforts, for the glory and honor of our God.
