  • Our spiritual enemy perverts the pleasures of God to deceive the innocence of man.

  • True paradise is found in eternity with our creator where we are finally free from the presence of evil.

  • The goodness of God is not determined by the absence of evil. What matters is where we are placing our attention and our focus, and to what we are giving our ear.

  • Satan wants to get man to question the goodness of God and deny the doctrine of God’s judgment.

  • Our spiritual enemy: Distorts with unbelief, Directs us to idolatry, Destroys us through rebellion

  • Companions of sin: Shame, Blame, Pain and relational turmoil

  • God asked Adam and Eve where they were so they would consider their relationship with Him and where sin had taken them. He asked Cain where his brother was so Cain would consider his relationship with others and what sin was causing him to do towards them.

  • Satan came to deceive us with unbelief, direct us to idolatry and destroy us with rebellion, but Christ came to defeat the serpent and deliver us from sin.

  • Through Jesus Christ, the way to God is now open to anyone, anywhere, any time.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • If you were in Adam and Eve's place, do you think you would have done things differently in the garden? Why or why not?

  • When you look at the condition the world is in, do you ever think back to the fall? If you do stop to consider it, how does it impact the way you view the condition of the world?

  • In what ways have you seen sin try to unravel what God has wanted to create in your life?

  • Even in the middle of the fall, the hope of Christ was being revealed. How has Christ given you hope in your life?

We can learn a lot about why we sin by looking at the first sin ever committed. Drawing from David Bowden's upcoming book, Rewire Your Heart, this study will dive deep into what happened with Eve at the tree and how it reveals to us the root of all sin.
