Exodus From Exile Week 3

Sharable notes for the March 5, 2023 message. You can post these notes on your social platform!

Scriptures used: Ezra 3:1-3; Nehemiah 9:1-5; Matthew 5:23-24; Psalm 34:1; 42:11; Haggai 2:3-5; Zechariah 4:8-10
Passages referenced: Romans 12:3-11; 1 Corinthians 12:12-26

  • To pray and fast and seek God only after you have tried everything else is backwards. Getting in the presence of God should be our first response.

  • A question to ask in our time of prayer - do we love what we are praying for more than we love God?

  • Repentance is a turning from sin and a turning to God. It’s not adding God to our lifestyle, it’s letting God take over our lifestyle.

  • “Repentance grows as faith grows. Do not make any mistake about it; repentance is not a thing of days and weeks, a temporary penance to be got over as fast as possible! No it is the grace of a lifetime, like faith itself. Repentance is the inseparable companion of faith.” Charles Spurgeon

  • God does not tolerate sin in our lives, but Jesus showed us love, and even though we were sinners He gave his life for us to find freedom from those sins.

  • Don’t confuse grace with a free pass to disobey God. We have to conform to God’s standard, and stop expecting him to conform to ours.

  • His love transcended our tolerance of sin, and the more we find our transcendence in his presence the more we stop tolerating sin.

  • We must be unified not allowing disagreements, grudges and hurts one from another to keep us from doing what God wants to do through us.

  • Never forget: God doesn't abandon you. He guides and instructs you. He provides for you. He's always ready to forgive you.

  • God’s provision of what we need is always better than our perception of what we want.

  • There is nothing keeping God from forgiving you, from pardoning you of your sin, other than our refusal to come to Him through Jesus.

  • “It is our duty and our privilege to exhaust our lives for Jesus.” Charles Spurgeon

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • When you find yourself facing an obstacle, how do you handle the stress and the situation? What role does your relationship with God play in the process?

  • Why should you put God first in everything?

  • How hard is repentance for you? Why is repentance important in your relationship with God and others?

  • How can your relationship with God bring you the transcendence your soul longs for?
