Both singleness and marriage are gifts.
Neither season makes you more important or less valuable. God has a purpose for you whether you are single or married.
Marriage is a covenant, not a consumer relationship.
Marriage isn't primarily about what we can get from someone. It is an opportunity to give, serve, forgive, grow, and love unconditionally.
Love looks for the other person's highest good.
A Christ-centered love isn't focused merely on getting our needs met. It seeks to love and serve the other person well.
Don't treat singleness like a waiting room.
Being single doesn't mean you're missing God's plan. Singleness can provide unique opportunities to serve God and advance His Kingdom.
Whatever season you're in, live fully for God.
Paul's challenge is to live out your calling where you are—single or married—and use your time and energy for God's Kingdom.
Our deepest fulfillment is found in Christ.
Marriage cannot meet the deepest needs of our soul, and neither can singleness. Those needs are ultimately found in Christ and His Spirit within us.
The Bottom Line
How am I using the season of life I'm in right now to glorify God and advance His Kingdom?
Personal Application & Reflection
If you're single: Don’t view your current season as something you have to escape. Ask God how you can use this season to grow, serve, and advance His Kingdom.
If you're married: Don't measure your marriage by what you're getting from it. Ask, "How can I love, serve, forgive, and invest in my spouse today?"
If you're dating: Don't simply ask, "Do I want to be with this person?" Ask, "Are we pursuing Christ together?"
If you're married and struggling: Remember that marriage requires commitment, humility, growth, forgiveness, and softened hearts. Don't adopt an "escape hatch" mentality when things get difficult.
