The Church Week 1

Sharable notes for the May 26, 2019 message. You can post these notes on your social platform!

Scriptures used: Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 4:1, 11-16; Hebrews 10:25; Ephesians 1:22-23; John 13:34-35; 1 John 3:18; 4:11

  • Christianity is something to be “lived” out. When we live out our faith we are playing a part in the calling of the church.

  • Jesus is not casual about His church. He died for the church and He rose again so the church could have resurrection life. The church is His bride.

  • Church is not just about going to a place, that’s religion. Church is about giving our lives in love.

  • Jesus' church is at it's best when it loves radically.

  • The church should be striving to reflect Jesus.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • What does it mean to you to be a part of God's church?

  • What does it mean to love like Christ loved us?

  • How difficult is it to love like Christ? What can we do to grow in our ability to love like Christ?

Confusion about who owns the church and who should be in charge is crippling some congregations in America. The key to a healthy local church is to recognize Christ as the Owner and Head of the Church. This series is based on the book The Church That Works, by Rick Dubose and Mel Surface. It was mainly written for pastors and leaders, to motivate them to be such a church.
